Pastor Pete's Bio and Ministry
Pete was born in 1952 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the first child of Pete Beck, Jr. and Jane. The family moved to Greensboro, NC in 1964. Pete attended public and Catholic schools through eighth grade, before graduating from Grimsley High School. He attended Duke University from 1970-74, where he came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in the Holy Spirit. In 1973, he married Martha Bilisoly, his high school sweetheart and the one who introduced him to Christ. They moved to Hampton, VA in 1974 to attend daily teachings at New Covenant Church and to be a part of church life there under Pastor Tom Jones. In 1975, they moved back to Greensboro to help Pete's Dad with the now growing church that began in his home. They spent several years at Maranatha Church, where Pete served as a teacher, elder, associate pastor and principle of Maranatha Christian Academy. In 1988, Pete began to invest time in a small group meeting in Burlington, NC. Eventually that group became what is now Liberty Church, where Pete still serves as the lead pastor.
God
blessed Pete and Martha with four children and five grand children
over the years. Their eldest, Marie, born in Durham, NC, married
Anton Janssen from Delft, Holland. They lived in the Netherlands for
twelve years before moving to the States. They have three children -
Victoria, Judah and Mercy Anne. Pete IV was born in Hampton, VA. He
married Tran Kim and they have a son named (You guessed it!) Pete V.
David, the next in line, was born in Greensboro and has lived in a
variety of locations across this great nation, including Portland
and Denver. He has always been an adventurer. He is single.
Clark, the youngest, was also born in Greensboro and married Leslie
Milliken. They live in Greensboro and are members of Living Way
Church, the new name of the church founded by Pete, Jr. and now pastored by John Held. They have a son named William Clark.
Pete III is part of Masterbuilders' leadership team. He has ministered many places in the world over the years, but mainly at his home church. He is in the process of writing several books, the first of which are being prepared for publication. God has used him to help people understand God's Word, to find personal freedom through Personal Prayer Ministry, and to learn how to effectively minister to the lost and unchurched through Mobile Ministry. His current focus in using Mobile Ministry as a tool to plant organic, missional churches. He is available to speak and to train others in how to be more effective in ministry. Pete is also leading his church into more involvement in mercy ministries to those less fortunate. He has been privileged to labor with Piedmont Men of Steel and Sustainable Alamance, both of which help ex-offenders rebuild their lives through discipleship to Christ. Sustainable Alamance helps these men and women find employment, a difficult goal for felons.
Pete's
new book, Seeing God's Smile When Life is Difficult, is now
available on Amazon. It was written following his bout with cancer.
In it he shares some of the things God showed him during that time.
It is designed to help people find peace and joy through faith in
God's sovereign power and overwhelming love. Please pray that it
will find its way into the hands of those who need it. Click on the
